Dynamics 365 Business Central, launched in South Africa in August, comes with expanded capabilities and new tools which includes manufacturing features.
The new business solution encompasses all the functionality businesses would expect from a leading ERP application in a single, end-to-end solution for managing finances, operations, sales and customer service.
The availability of manufacturing tools within Business Central provides businesses with a range of features to help production businesses manage and streamline their output.
Users within the manufacturing industry can create production orders, produce and manage alternative versions of production bill of materials, and outsource particular operations within a production order to subcontractors.
Business Central also helps businesses plan for and manage demand, with master production scheduling and material requirements planning tools and create production and purchase orders based on demand forecasts and inventory levels.
“We are able , using the technology of D365 Business Central to help SME’s mitigate risk, have complete control and drive growth, at the fraction of the cost of large ERP implementation” – Craig Garrett, Client Partner Decision Inc.
Machine centres can be managed through the app and be aggregated into work centres to allow users to control capacity levels and ensure work centres are operating at an efficient level.
Also, Business Central supports agile manufacturing, enabling businesses to plan for peak times and make eleventh-hour alterations to processes to facilitate changes.
Although Business Central shares the same code base as Dynamics NAV 2018, the latest upgraded version includes the functionality currently seen in NAV, but with additional new features.
For manufacturing businesses, it means Dynamics Business Central can successfully replace Dynamics NAV functionality – especially on the cloud platform – as NAV will soon only be available as a 2018 on-premise version.
The Business Central Manufacturing features are available only with a Premium license, which includes more capabilities than the Essential license.
