Microsoft’s Tech Summit cloud conference discussed insights and applications of cloud solutions, artificial intelligence, and data analytics for enterprises.
The conference had a big focus on digital transformation and innovation for the local business through the adoption of the Microsoft Azure cloud and Microsoft 365 platforms to gain competitive advantage.
IT professionals and CIOs would have gained a better understanding of Microsoft’s cloud applications through hands-on technical workshops and product demonstrations and view the latest Azure innovations in action.
For example, the Microsoft Cloud platform has been recently adopted by the apparel giant Columbia Sportswear to enhance customer experience, driving digital transformation.
The company is leveraging Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Microsoft Azure cloud platform for its retail, call centre, customer relationship management and merchandising operations.
Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing infrastructure and platform aimed at the building, deploying and managing of applications and services. You may hear us talk about Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS).
Weather forecast provider AccuWeather is using Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Dynamics 365 to gain real-time intelligence into weather and business patterns. In the process, the company increased on-demand scalability, improved user access to over four billion real-time weather forecast data daily and reduced its IT costs by 40%.
Furthermore, the latest cloud technologies now allow enterprises to integrate data analytics and artificial intelligence features in the cloud through Microsoft’s Cortana Intelligence Suite.
In the example above, AccuWeather was able to integrate weather information with operational and sales data to better assist its clients. The AccuWeather’s predictive analytics based on Cortana Intelligence can assist enterprises such as Starbucks to gauge their sales in a given season depending on the weather patterns.
At the tech conference, local businesses and enterprises had opportunities to build their cloud skills, discuss similar scenarios and improve their digital business strategies.
Speakers at the event included Victoria Grady, GM for Azure experience marketing, and Craig Dewar, senior director for Windows 10.
The Microsoft Tech Summit cloud conference was held on 13 and 14 February in Cape Town at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
