Joachim Hammer has been a Principal Program Manager in the Database Systems Group (DS) in Microsoft for over 10 years, working on a variety of features and components including distributed query processing and scale-out, data warehousing, T-SQL programmability, security, and compliance. For the past 4 years, Joachim has been leading the security team, delivering security features and services for all SQL products from SQL Server Engine to SQL-in-a-VM to Azure SQL Database and Data Warehouse. Before joining Microsoft in 2007 Joachim was a Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science and Engineering at the University of Florida where he served as the Director of the Database Research and Development Center.
Joanne Wong is a Product Marketing Manager in the Data & AI marketing team at Microsoft, covering SQL Database. Previously, she was in the Office business in the US Subsidiary, responsible for marketing and driving Project and Visio revenues. She joined Microsoft after completing an MBA from Yale University and a B.A. in Economics and East Asian Studies from Wellesley College.
Matt Usher is a Principal Program Manager at Microsoft and is a seasoned technologist having started as a consultant with Deloitte, ventured through several startups, and then landing at Microsoft in 2003. He is a program manager in the SQL Server division working on Azure SQL Data Warehouse, PolyBase and the Appliance Platform System (APS). He led the program management team for Azure SQL Data Warehouse through the private, public, and GA releases now focusing on service reliability, language surface, partner integrations, and customer success. Matt is a Microsoft Engineering Excellence award winner for his work on design and documentation of network protocols for Windows and Windows Server.
Alain Dormehl has been with Microsoft for 4 years, He is currently a Senior Technical Product Manager with Microsoft in Redmond and was a Data Solutions Architect for Microsoft South Africa before that. He has worked with the entire Microsoft Azure Data Services stack and in the last year has been focused on Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for MySQL and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.
