The new workflow engine that shipped with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 R2 earlier this year became a centerpiece of the release, and with good reason. Native GP workflow technology, a.k.a. “Workflow 2.0”, eliminates the SharePoint workflow dependency (via Business Portal) that has dogged the product over several previous releases. It also adds web client access, integrates with GP web services, and increases GP’s overall process management flexibility and accessibility.

GP 2013 R2 was just the start of the new workflow journey, with four workflow types introduced. Nine more types are planned for the upcoming GP 2015, the major release that we hear is now approaching its “code complete” milestone.
